Do you ever feel like gardening is a battle? A war against weeds, diseases, or pests? Fighting nature is, well, an uphill battle! So let’s stop fighting. Make peace with the soil and gardening won’t feel like war anymore. The soil is a living ecosystem! When healthy and thriving, it supports your plants just as nature intended (literally!). When the soil ecosystem is stressed, out of balance, or outright destroyed - which is often the case, even in organic production - the plants suffer and can actually attract pests and disease. Come learn about the beautiful webs of life below ground and the ways that you can best support them as a shepherd of the microscopic livestock who make your garden grow!

Maks Kopish (they/them) is a mushroom cultivator, avid compost maker, and vegetable gardener. They live on a 10-acre homestead near Viroqua, WI where they are partnering with soil microbes to develop perennial food forests.
