This class is all about the bees that nest in dead plant stems and tunnels in wood. We'll talk about the different bees with this type of nesting and their life cycles, discuss what we've learned from two research studies, and give recommendations for planting and managing landscapes to support their habitat needs.
Thea is the Project Coordinator for the MN Bee Atlas citizen science project, and also coordinates maintenance of the pollinator demonstration garden at the UMN Bee Lab. Prior to working on stem and wood nesting bee research projects, she ran a native plant landscaping business and studied restoration ecology at the University of Minnesota.
